Treasure Hunt Clues Hidden Within Fun
Thriller
PASADENA,
CA – July 14, 2008. – Eric
Colley’s independent film, GPS, puts a
thrilling and quirky spin on GPS treasure hunts, a hi-tech version of
old-fashioned scavenger hunting. For the
first time in feature film history, the GPS device that fueled an amazingly
popular hobby has morphed into a movie that is already a crowd favorite. The
movie has its Action On International Film Festival (AOFFEST) Premiere at the
festival’s Opening Night: Friday, July 25th at 8 PM at the Laemmle
Theatre at
GPS is nominated for two awards at AOFFEST: Action Film of the Year
and Best Visual Effects. The movie previously took home the honor of Best Film at
the Tacoma Film Festival, and film critic Matthew Green says, “The suspense,
suspicions, and surprises will delight fans of scary movies.”
GPS tells the story of a pair of scavenger hunt enthusiasts who embark on a
camping trip with a group of old friends, following the trail of a mysterious
invitation with hopes of finding money. When the trail leads them to photographs of a masked woman tied to a
chair along with a new set of GPS coordinates, the group questions if the woman
is in grave danger or part of an elaborate game.
GPS treasure
hunting has been growing in popularity for over five years with millions of
players and more than 250,000 hidden treasures in 200 countries. This relatively
new sport has fast become a worldwide phenomenon. GPS treasure hunting is a sport in
which “hunters” use a handheld global positioning satellite system, while
combing forests, resorts, parks, even
indoor locations in search of “treasure.” The moviemakers have launched
their own version of the game (www.GPStheGame.com),
complete with online puzzles, mystery, and live treasure hunts. Watch for clues
and treasure codes hidden in the actual movie!
